Dr. Ron Davis will share selected standing and seated Buddhist-inspired Qigong exercises from the Eight Brocades, Bone Marrow Cleansing and Tantrayana practices. Participants in this special class will learn a three phase practice that includes External (waigong), Internal (neigong), and Esoteric (tantrayana)  qigong methods for body/mind/spirit unity.

In the qigong world, the morning hours are considered to be the "fresh breath of the day". The air is clear and the world is awakening to all possibilities. A perfect time for practice. The qigong movements in Buddhist Qigong will gently loosen your body, the meditations will center your thoughts as preparation for the day ahead, and the internal energy cultivation will enhance your mental and physical activities. For these reasons and more, practicing qigong in the morning may be the very best way to start your day.

The beloved 8 Brocades was developed during the 12th century by Marshall Yeuh Fei to improve the health of his soldiers by combining the practice of mindfulness with both body strengthening and internal organ nourishing exercises. Bone Marrow Cleansing was developed at the legendary Shaolin Temple during the time of Bodhidharma, the first patriarch of Zen DSCN3660 copyBuddhism. This internally directed practice deeply integrates inner stillness, meaningful movements, and vivid mental intention to create better health at the deepest level of body and mind. The Esoteric Hand Seals of Tantric Buddhist Qigong, when coordinated with a universal mantra, will awaken latent energies at specific body locations thus allowing the mind to enter spaciousness and tranquility.

No qigong or meditation experience is necessary. The movements and sitting postures are always done within your comfort zone. This sequence of Buddhist Qigong practice is arranged as a journey from the outer world of muscle and bone to the inner landscape of equanimity and peace. This progression follows pathways through the Lower, Middle and Upper Dan Tians (energy centers in the body).
